Where is First Baptist Church of Akron located?

We are located at 1670 Shatto Avenue in Akron, near West Market Street and North Hawkins.

What time is the Sunday service?

Our Sunday worship service begins at 10:30 AM. We recommend arriving a few minutes early to park and get settled in.

Where do I park?

We have a parking lot adjacent to the church and handicapped spaces located in the driveway in front of the church.

What should I wear?

Come as you are! Some of our members wear traditional Sunday best, while others prefer casual attire. Our main goal is for you to feel comfortable as you worship with us.

What is the order of service?

A typical service includes:

• A warm welcome, responsive reading and opening prayer

• Announcements

• Worship through music (a mix of hymns and contemporary songs)

• Scripture reading

• A sermon based on God’s Word - we accept the New Testament as its basis of doctrine and practice.

• A time of giving (no obligation for visitors)

• Closing song and benediction

Communion is observed on the first Sunday of the month.​​

Do I need to bring anything?

No, just yourself! If you have a Bible, feel free to bring it (we use the NIV and KJV versions), but we also provide Bibles in the pews and display scripture on the screens.

Will I be asked to introduce myself?

We love meeting new visitors, but we won’t put you on the spot. You’re welcome to fill out a visitor card so we can follow up and answer any questions you may have.

What happens after the service?

Many members stay for fellowship in our gathering area. We’d love for you to join us, meet some friendly faces, and learn more about our church!
